Filming Tips
Make sure that you are set up for success by following a few
simple guidelines: -
-
Ensure that you have read and understood all
the tasks so that you know what you are supposed to be doing. Keep the
assessment sheet to hand so that you can keep track of where you are if you
forget the order of tasks.
-
It is advisable for the person filming to use a
tripod as an unstable shot makes it very hard to assess. It would be a shame
to have to re-submit a task because the instructor cannot see what you are
doing.
-
It is important that both you and your horse
are in view and that the shot is as close as possible. For example, it is
impossible to see a student tie the correct knot in the halter if the camera
is not zoomed in!
-
Don’t worry if you have to make the film over a
few days. However, do not split a task over two days. Each task should be
filmed continuously.
-
Don’t panic if things don’t go according to
plan; just deal with it the best way you can. Very often the way that you
deal with an issue can show the instructor as much about your Savvy level as
a perfectly executed task.
-
No instructor expects a soundtrack and funky
captions; we want to see you playing with your horse. So don’t worry if you
are not a technical wizard.
-
Do try to relax and enjoy it. It’s supposed to
be fun for you and your horse.
Good luck and I look forward to watching your
films!
